Every corner, be it a bustling city or a small hamlet can boast of some connection with a ruler of bygone days with enchanting architecture in the form of havelis (old mansions), temples, palaces and a host of historical sites . The royals were great connoisseurs of traditional Indian art and culture and happily Rajasthan has not only preserved it but has done an admirable job of show-casing it to the world.

The Rajput rulers were also excellent marksman and ironically their favorite sport was hunting game both great and small and would frequently invite their fellow royalty and the British residents of Colonial India to partake of their bounty - some of them can be really termed as "orgies." However, in later years they also realised the need for protecting wildlife and preserving it for coming generations. Today, Rajasthan can boast of some of the well known wildlife & Bird sanctuaries in India.
From October 2013 to February 2014, I made as many as three exciting but vastly different trips to this exotic state. Through this blog I will share my photographic journey of my experience of enjoying the heritage and wildlife of this area.
A word about Rajasthan - it is a Northwestern state of India & a large part of it comprises the Thar Desert which has its own unique flora and fauna as well as culture and traditions. The capital city is Jaipur - better known as "The Pink City" due to its structures made of Pink Sandstone. Other interesting & well known cities are Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Barmer & Bikaner.
